Saint Peter Parish is on a journey to know, love, and serve Christ in our parish community. Together we must embrace Christ’s vision for missionary discipleship so our parish can thrive and be a place for others to grow together in faith.

The very first step in this process involves assessing our greatest strengths and opportunities, and that is where the Disciple Maker Index (DMI) comes in! The DMI is an important survey tool that invites you to reflect on your discipleship journey here at Saint Peter Parish. The Disciple Maker Index is designed to:

  • Invite parishioners to reflect on their journey of discipleship.
  • Enable parish leadership to make data-driven decisions.
  • Help parishioners grow in their faith.

The 10–15-minute survey can be accessed through an online link from March5th through April 10th and will ask you to reflect on your own spiritual growth and enable you to provide your perspective on our parish’s efforts to help you grow in relationship with Christ. All responses will be confidential, and the parish will only receive information about the community as a whole. Complete the Disciple Maker Index (DMI) survey today!  For the Disciple Maker Index (DMI) survey link, please visit https://portal.catholicleaders.org/dmi/survey/xpp9ax.  Paper surveys will also be available for those who do not have the ability to complete the survey online.

Together we must embrace Christ’s vision for missionary discipleship so our parish can thrive and be a place for others to grow together in faith.

Thank you for helping with this important project and please continue to pray for this intention and for the growth and protection of our parish.

We are excited to announce the appointment of Reverend Michael Olivere as our new pastor, beginning Monday, June 17, 2024. He will be available in the office all that week and serving his first Masses with us on the weekend of June 22-23. We are all excited to meet him!

Father Olivere has been a priest in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia for 30 years. He comes to us from Saint Timothy parish after serving there for 10 years, and previously has served at Divine Mercy parish. He is eager to get started at Saint Peter and meet all our wonderful parishioners.

Father William Chiriaco will continue as our Pro Tem Administrator until Father Olivere has settled in full time. We want to thank Father Chiriaco for his exceptional service, spiritual guidance, and friendship during this challenging transition.

Let’s continue to pray for all our priests as we walk together on this journey, helping each other grow spiritually closer to Christ

“Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

My name is Bishop John McIntyre and I serve as the Regional Bishop for Chester County as part of my pastoral and administrative responsibilities.

As we gather today for the sacrifice of the Holy Mass, I have been asked to share an announcement regarding your pastor, Father Michael Fitzpatrick.

Recently, concerns regarding some of his behaviors were reported directly to the Archdiocese. It is important to note that those concerns did not involve allegations of inappropriate conduct with minors, financial impropriety, or any criminal activity. Following a thorough investigation, it was determined that Father Fitzpatrick had violated The Standards of Ministerial Behavior and Boundaries.

Based on that finding, Archbishop Pérez placed Father Fitzpatrick on administrative leave. He is no longer residing at the parish rectory and has been directed to refrain from exercising his priestly ministry publicly.  I understand this news may come as surprising and unsettling, especially given Father Fitzpatrick’s many years of service and commitment to you as demonstrated by his contributions to your parish, the regional school, and the

community.

At the same time, I ask for your understanding that there are a multitude of reasons why a priest might be removed from ministry.  As such, I will not be discussing the specific nature and circumstances that led to this decision. I hope that all of you will exercise charity when discussing this matter with one another.

Father Fitzpatrick assures you of his continued prayers. I ask that you join me in praying for him.  In order to provide for the pastoral and temporal care of Saint Peter Parish, the Archbishop has assigned Father William Chiriaco to serve as your Parochial Administrator Pro-Tem. Father Chiriaco is a School Minister at Bishop Shanahan High School and will continue to serve in that capacity. Father Eder Estrada, Pastor of Saint Joseph Parish in Coatesville, and other priests from the Archdiocese will also assist in caring for your pastoral and sacramental needs. We are deeply grateful for their willingness to serve you during this time.

The current Mass schedule will remain in place as we work through this process. All of this information is also being shared with school and PREP families. Thank you and God bless you.”
