Good Afternoon Saint Peter,
Please read the information below carefully.
Due to the virtual certainty of significant snowfall and poor road conditions:
-Sunday Masses will NOT be celebrated on January 25th at 7:00, 9:00, or 11:00 am.
-The Saturday, 5:00 pm Anticipated Mass on January 24th WILL take place as normal.
Heavy snow is expected to continue into the early hours on Monday, with the potential for ice and sleet on the back end. Our facilities staff and landscaping company will then need ample time to clear the parking lot and walkways before they are safe for vehicular and foot traffic.
For your own safety, and out of respect for rescue personnel and road crews, please do not attempt to drive to Saint Peter on Sunday morning.
The Blessed Sacrament will be reposed and the Adoration Chapel locked after the conclusion of the Saturday 5:00 Mass. The Lord will be exposed once again on Tuesday Morning. In regard to Monday, as always we are following the closure schedule for Pope John Paul II School. If the school is closed, there will not be an 8:30am Mass and the office will be closed.
The decision to cancel Sunday Masses was not made in haste, and many factors have been considered, most especially the safety of our congregation. While weather cancellations often elicit strong opinions, we are always called to act charitably and in good faith.
Again, the Saturday 5pm Anticipated Mass WILL be celebrated, allowing for our parishioners to fulfill their weekly Mass obligation. We expect to Livestream the Saturday Mass as well.
Please pray for those tasked with our safety and cleanup during inclement weather, particularly our faithful and dedicated parish facilities staff.
Take care, be safe, and God bless you all.
