Saint Peter Parish offers praise to God through liturgy enhanced by a variety of musical styles, and directed by accomplished musicians. All people with musical interest or musical talent are welcome to consider joining a Music Ministry.
Mission: Ministers of music lead the congregation in song, either by playing a musical instrument, singing in the choir or as a cantor.
Cantors and Adult Choir: Cantors lead the congregation during Mass and help teach them new music. Singers who do not wish to sing alone are encouraged to join the adult choir.
Contemporary Choir: The Contemporary Choir “Second Prayer” provides another way to sing praise to God, often including guitar or other instrumental accompaniment. They alternate with the YAYA Choir to lead praise at the 11:00 Sunday Mass.
Youth and Young Adult (YAYA) Choir: The YAYA Choir has a predominant youth component, and leads music on alternating weekends at the Sunday 11:00 a.m. Mass.
What does it involve? Practice for each music group is usually once a week.
Who should participate? Musical skill is required, but a person need not be an expert or professional. Those who play an instrument are urged to volunteer their talent, to help enhance the liturgies and special Masses throughout the year.
